HVAC Repair in Hampton Roads
What Is Your System Doing?
No Cooling
If your outdoor unit only runs in summer, see AC repair. If it also runs in winter to heat the house, it is a heat pump, and heat pump repair is the page you want. The AC page opens with a quick way to tell the two apart.
No Heat
If your heat comes from an indoor unit that burns gas or runs electric heating elements, see furnace repair. If the outdoor unit runs in winter, it is a heat pump, and heat pump repair covers it, including the auxiliary heat that kicks in on cold nights.
Not sure what you have
Look at what the outdoor unit does in winter. Running in winter means a heat pump. If it’s silent in winter and heat comes from an indoor unit with a flue or vent pipe, you likely have an air conditioner paired with a gas furnace. Some homes have both a heat pump and a gas furnace working together. If you are still unsure, call and describe your equipment, and we will help you
figure it out.
What Happens When You Call?
Our office hours are Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 5 PM. For emergencies, call or text us. Maintenance plan members receive 24-hour emergency service.
On the visit, we diagnose the cause rather than the symptom, because fixing the symptom alone often means another call next month. We explain what failed and why, along with your options, with upfront pricing and no upselling. The job is done when the system is heating or cooling properly again, not when the part is in.
If your carbon monoxide alarm sounds or you smell gas, leave the house first and call 911 or your gas utility from outside. Do not wait for an HVAC technician.
Should You Repair or Replace?
Repair is usually the right call when the system is in good shape and the problem is a single component. Replacement makes sense when repairs are frequent, the system is aging, or a safety issue comes up. Older systems that use R-22 refrigerant can still be serviced with available R-22, since only new production and imports ended in 2020, but a leak in one can make repair more expensive, so compare the actual quote with replacement. We will tell you plainly when a repair is the smarter spend, and our HVAC installation and replacement page covers the other path.
How Do You Get Fewer Repairs?
Regular maintenance catches many small problems before they become breakdowns. Our Standard Maintenance Plan is $19.99 per month and includes two visits a year, one in spring and one in fall, plus 5% off repairs, priority scheduling, and 24-hour emergency service. The Elite Maintenance Plan is $29.99 per month and adds 10% off repairs, free filters for the main return, and a complimentary drain pan treatment at the spring visit. See our maintenance plans for everything included.
